The New Music Experiment

A new initiative to foster musical creativity and innovation, the New Music Experiment is an educational workshop presented by the Lexington Philharmonic in collaboration with the Central Kentucky Youth Orchestras, taking place in March 2013. Participants have the opportunity to work with composers and musicians while bringing new art to life, all under the direction of LexPhil’s Maestro Scott Terrell. On March 3, 2013 this workshop will culminate a week focused on new music with LexPhil hosting Grammy-winning ensemble eighth blackbird.

A Call For Scores invites composers at various levels (high school, college, adult amateur and pre-professional) to submit their original works for consideration to be work-shopped during the New Music Experiment. Submission guidelines are available on the LexPhil website or by request at education@lexphil.org. Submissions are due by January 21, 2013.
